Bedfordshire Schools Training Partnership

Lead Schools

We are proud to be working in partnership with Robert Bloomfield Academy as one of our Lead Schools, as well as working closely with The Bedfordshire Schools Trust (BEST). In 2012 Robert Bloomfield was designated as one of the first 200 Teaching Schools in the country. The designation by the National College for School Leadership and the Department for Education entitles the school to lead the training and professional development for staff. CBTSP stands for Central Bedfordshire Teaching Schools Partnership and is now known as BEST Teaching School. The school and partnership are committed to developing the next generation of teachers.

We are proud to be working in partnership with Inspirit - St Thomas More Catholic Teaching School, Bedford.

Successes for St Thomas More in recent years include:

  • In the top 100 most improved schools in the country (Department of Education, 2013)
  • Graded Outstanding (OFSTED, 2011)
  • Graded Outstanding (Diocese of Northampton, 2011)
  • Awarded Teaching School Status (National College, 2011)

These fine achievements are thanks to the hard work of teachers and students.  St Thomas More has a key role to play in the development of the next generation of teachers.

Ashcroft High School takes the lead for our partnership in the Luton area. They work with Luton Futures in helping to train and develop teachers.

Luton Futures is a partnership of eight secondary schools in Luton, set up in 2010, who seek to achieve the best education for their pupils, and the best teaching and working environment for their teachers, by working collaboratively together – sharing their skills, experience and understanding for the greater good.

Please note these are our three Lead Schools under the Schools Direct Scheme. We also offer 'core' PGCE training places directly via the Bedfordshire Schools' Training Partnership. In both instances trainee placements can be in a wide range of partner schools throughout Bedfordshire and sometimes beyond.
