An Introduction to the Bedfordshire Schools’ Training Partnership

The Bedfordshire Schools’ Training Partnership is a small, school based, teacher training provider working on behalf of local lower, middle and primary schools – specialising in offering  bespoke training for small cohorts of primary trainee teachers.  At the heart of our primary teacher education programme is an extensive partnership with the lower, middle and primary schools across Bedford Borough, Luton, Hertfordshire and Central Bedfordshire.  In each of these settings there is a clear and transparent commitment to supporting the professional development of new teachers and in this the Mentor is key.  We look to Mentors to help develop each Trainee Teacher working closely with the team of Primary Facilitators and Quality Assurers to provide a stimulating and successful learning journey for each Trainee with challenge and support in equal measure.

Information about applying to the Bedfordshire Schools’ Training Partnership

We offer three main routes into teaching: Salaried, Tuition Fee and QTS only.  This is via SCITT - School Centred Intial Teacher Training.

The Salaried route is an employment based route in to teaching, for graduates with three or more years' career experience. (May be waived in some instances) The trainee is employed as an unqualified teacher by a school and their salary and training is subsidised by a government grant. All salaried trainees are awarded QTS.
The Tuition fee routes are open to all graduates and are funded by tuition fees paid by the trainee (Student Loans are available from The Student Loans Company to cover Tuition Fees).  All Tuition Fee trainees are awarded QTS with the opportunity of obtaining a PGCE  validated by The University of Buckingham (depending on academic qualifications).
